Vážení a milí přátelé,
Marek

Dear Roger,
Yes, spring has come in full strenght this weekend to Czechia – a very pleasant time of year and we are personally all fine.
Thank you very much for the update on the school. We all admire and are most grateful for what you and your friends are doing for the JHP skola. It is a pitty that the donations for the land and the sewing machines did not come through. I am in awe when I read that Ann and you will fund the land purchase. I do not know how to pay enough respect for such a generous deed.
We currently have half of the promised second-quarter money (i.e., around 2,000 USD) on our account. Now we trust that donations will start coming in a new wave this and next week because today we sent out a plea to the wide circle of benefactors. So you can count on us providing the 4,000 USD in early April. We will see how much money we collect. If we have extra funds available, the management of our team will discuss how to use them – for me, spending them on the sewing machines will be a very good use of the funds – obviously, it is important to start the sewing class very soon.
I apologize I have not replied about the logo for so long – there was no reason behind it that except my lack of focus. At our meeting on March 9, we all agreed that we like the logo (attached). So please use it for the sign or signs. You and Sarith have the most experience about what text to put on the sign at the road. At our meeting, we agreed that the sign at the road should be about the purpose and workings of the school so that visitors are attracted to learn more. We still would like to have it also in Czech, i.e. in three languages. As I said, you are obviously best qualified to write the text. You may then send it to me and I will translate it and send the typed Czech text in an agreed electronic format for printing. However, if you wish to put up a simple sign quickly, please go ahead – no problem.
Beside this sign at the road, we were thinking about having a smaller sign or table somewhere directly in or at the school building that would mention Janka and Honza. But that has time, and obviously we will fund it fully. We will let you know.
So far so good.
Marek

Dear Marek, et al.,
I hope this finds you and Dana well and happy. We are all doing fine here, and expecting a visit from Sarith in a few days. I am writing to ask about the results of your fund raising because we will soon have our quarterly board meeting (3/27/12) in which we decide on our yearly budget. I want to inform the board of how you are doing with the second quarter operating expenses. I will ask the board to continue to develop the school and grounds physically, particularly to fund the development of organic gardening and fish raising. We can feed our students on this and it will help in drawing contributions from visitors. We did sent the $4,000 to finish construction and improve the kitchen. There is one change in plans. Sarith has decided not to try to raise fish right next to the building. Vladimira was quite skeptical of this in the original plan, so this is good.
The fish pond will have to be in the small plot of land next to the school which we plan to buy. Our promised donation for this did not come through, so Ann (my partner) and I plan to fund this purchase. We must have enough room at the school to develop our food supply. We also want to make use the student volunteer labor to do so as it will be very good for them to contribute to the project. The garden in front of the school is a good start but we have much more ambitious plans.
We now are starting to raise money for the sewing machines, which also has not come through. Sarith and I will meet with a local service club who have contributed to our project in the past, so we have hopes to be able to do so. If not, I will ask our board for it. Since we have already committed $4,000 for the third quarter operating expenses, this $3,500 may be a tough sell, but I should get something. Please let me know if your group can help out with any of this.
We need to get some signs up so visitors can easily find us. Since you have not responded to my email about this, I am worried that maybe our logo does not look so good to your group. I tried to copy the one on the shirt you gave Sophat, but maybe it needs a line in Czech saying Technical School, or some other improvements. I want to start more visitors coming so our students and teachers can get comfortable showing people around. Getting some signs up would be good, even if we do not have much text to put on them yet.
Best Regards,
Roger
